AMREF Courses & Training Programmes

AMREF Training

AMREF’s International Training Centre in Nairobi has become known as an important institution for regional training of health workers. The Diploma in Community Health course has seen graduates from all over Africa, in turn spreading improved health practices and bettering the lives of communities across the continent.

With a range of short specialised courses, a world class resource centre and information services, and a continually growing collection of health learning materials, AMREF has become an African leader in the training of community health workers, all of whom play a vital role in our mission to eradicate poverty and change lives.

Training Doctors

There are only seven reconstructive surgeons for East Africa’s population of 110 million, so AMREF's Flying Doctors Training Programme trains on average 1,000 doctors, and over 3,000 nurses every year

Conference Facilities

An ideal venue for workshops, seminars and conferences. The centre is popular with non-governmental and governmental organisations, educational groups and private corporations.

Sharing

Sharing what we have learnt from our projects has made it possible for other organisations to replicate what we have done and learnt across the African continent and world wide.
Our health education materials have been used across the globe. We have seen our advice on health policy taken up at community, district, and government levels.
