First Ladies of Africa sign petition to support African midwives

It was a great day for AMREF and midwives in particular when several first ladies appended their signatures to support nomination of a midwife for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize under the Stand Up for African Mothers (SU4AM) campaign. The first ladies from Kenya, Ethiopia, Namibia, Comoros, and Ghana signed the petition during the 21st AU Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The SU4AM campaign aims to train 15,000 midwives by 2015 to contribute towards the reduction of maternal deaths in sub Saharan Africa.
