AMREF Ranked Among World's Top 100 NGOs

AMREF has been named one of the Top 100 Non-Governmental Organisations in the world by The Global Journal, an international publication concerned with global governance, issues and players. The ranking places AMREF at No 28, a significant jump forward from No. 81 in 2012.

The top 100 NGOs were selected from a long list of 450 organisations working around the world. This year, The Global Journal focused its ranking on three key criteria relevant to the activities of NGOs – impact, innovation and sustainability.

The results were published in a special edition which, according to the journal “reflects the increasing global influence of NGOs in all facets of modern life, in the process shining a light on a dynamic, innovative and inspiring sector estimated to encompass close to 10 million organisations.

AMREF’s Director General, Dr Teguest Guerma expressed her delight at the organisation’s impressive ranking. “AMREF is proud to have been recognised for the work it is doing to improve the health of African communities. In all our work, AMREF lays great emphasis on innovation and creative use of local resources to ensure sustainable health change in the lives of millions of people across Africa.

The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) is a leading health development organisation based in Africa, with programmes in over 30 countries across the continent.”
