Purpose of the Job
To provide managerial and technical leadership in the implementation of the Project to ensure it meets its overall objective.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and project management through coordination and supervision of the implementation of project activities.
- Lead in the preparation of work plans, budgets, M&E plans and performance frameworks for the project in Kilifi and Busia Counties.
- Preparation of technical monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports relating to the project as per donor requirements as well as for internal purposes.
- Facilitate capacity building activities for the project implementation team, Government and Private partners and enhance stakeholders’ involvement.
- Lead in operations research, document and share results for advocacy in order to influence relevant policies and practices.
- Work with program staff to document and disseminate best practices and lessons learnt from this unique business project model.
- Play a leading role in management of project resources including staff, finances and assets.
- Develop and promote partnerships and networking with relevant stakeholders including, but not limited to, donors, relevant Government of Kenya Ministries and NGOs.
- Ensure project integration and growth by participating in country office and program meetings.
- Participate in the development of new concepts and proposals for fundraising.
- Represent AMREF in partners’ and collaborators’ consultative meetings.
Qualifications & Competencies
The ideal candidate should have a Masters Degree in Public Health or relevant Social Sciences discipline with at least five (5) years relevant work experience. S/he must possess hands-on experience in the implementation of sanitation and hygiene promotion programming, including being fully conversant with partnership programming, sanitation and hygiene promotion demand creation through use of Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and Community Health Strategy (CHS). The candidate should be ICT proficient and have experience in project management particularly one involving diverse partners, operations research and documentation, monitoring and evaluation, people management, proposal development and financial management. In addition, the ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, team player and have visionary leadership.
