
The 15th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa takes place in Dakar on 3-7 December 2008. This year’s theme for Africa's leading forum for discussion of HIV developments and trends is “Africa’s Response: Face the facts.”
International and African experts will evaluate the current state of the HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) epidemics assessing political commitments, scientific progress and challenges, community actions and leadership.
The central theme of the conference is:
“Africa’s Response: Face the facts”
AMREF will hold a skills building workshop focusing on ‘Connecting African communities with their health systems to improve the quality of HIV prevention, care and treatment’ on Thursday, December 4. AMREF will also host discussions at the conference on ‘Unpacking the Paris Principles on aid effectiveness at the community level’ on Friday, December 5, based on AMREF’s experience in Kenya.
