The Kibera ART Project, funded by Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) focuses on the provision of integrated HIV/AIDS services which include adult and paediatric care and treatment, PMTCT, PITCT; TB testing and treatment; prevention with positives; community mobilisation and capacity building with close collaboration with local and external partners.
The project is seeking an organised, highly motivated and results oriented individual to fill the posiiton of Project Officer reporting to the Project Manager.
Purpose of the Job
To provide day-to-day clinical assessment and diagnosis, classifications, management and follow-up of patients using health set guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth flow of services in the health centre from OPD to exit
- Managing of HIV patients, follow up of exposed babies
- Initiation of ART and patient follow up
- Management of opportunistic infections
- Maintaining accurate medical records and other data collection as required for monitoring, evaluation and research within the health facility
- Assist in the co-ordination of health services activities and ensure standardised services are offered in the satellite clinics
- Participate in capacity building for new staff, students and interns on attachment in the health centre and scale up clinics
- Co-ordinating training sessions in the health facility through Continuous Medical Education
- Monitoring and evaluating program process by writing monthly and quarterly reports.
Qualifications and Competencies:
A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery; professional training in comprehensive adult and paediatric ART, PMTCT, TB/HIV will be an added advantage. At least five (5) years relevant work experience in a busy health facility. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under minimum supervision and a team player and the ability to exercise discretion and tact with patients of different diversity.
The ideal candidate should have a first degree in Social Sciences or its equivalent. At least five years relevant work experience. Training in HIV Testing and Counselling and other HIV related fields. Professional training in Counselling will be an added advantage. Experience in community strategy, development of BCC/IEC materials, psychosocial support, group therapy, group formation and follow-ups. Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under minimum supervision and a team player.
