Driver

The Maanisha Programme is a community focused initiative of AMREF in Kenya.  It aims at sustained reduction in HIV incidence, reduced HIV – related mortality and morbidity, and social protection of HIV infected and affected people.  “Maanisha” is a Swahili word that means “giving meaning to”.  The programme aims at giving meaning to the war against HIV/AIDS in Kenya by working with more than 700 civil society organisations in partnership with NACC, ministries of health and other government ministries in four provinces of Kenya. The programme seeks to recruit a Driver reporting to the Capacity Building Manager.

Purpose of the Job:

To provide safe and reliable transportation to staff within various project sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving project vehicles safely for all official duties while ensuring timeliness and safety
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness of the pool and project vehicles under custody
  • Ensuring the project vehicles assigned is well serviced and maintained as required
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of the vehicles work tickets
  • Safeguarding all the contents in the vehicles under custody
  • Reporting any accidents/incidents involving the vehicles under custody to the Supervisor and Transport Officer.

Qualifications and Competencies

The ideal candidate should have ‘O’ level education, a clean driving licence, certificate of good conduct and at least three years experience in driving. Basic Mechanical and First Aid certificate/training are necessary.

Must have good communication skills in English and Kiswahili, both verbal and written, good interpersonal skills, should be flexible and a team player. The candidate should have a high level of honesty, integrity, confidentiality and ability to work under minimal supervision.  Willing to travel to various project sites within the country.
