
The Flying Doctors – Africa’s Air Ambulance Service
AMREF Flying Doctor Service based in Kenya, is the largest and best-known Air Ambulance Service in the region. With a dedicated fleet of aircraft, ranging from Cessna Caravan, Beechcraft King Airs to Cessna Citation Bravo Jets, the Flying Doctor Service provide 24 hour Air Ambulance service in Kenya, all neighboring countries and beyond. Patients are also evacuated to South Africa, Europe, Asia and North America by private Air Ambulance or on commercial airline with medical escort.
All our air ambulance aircraft are fully equipped with certified stretcher systems and carry modern medical equipment including transport ventilators, electronic monitoring equipment, trauma equipment, medical supplies and drugs, for professional ICU patient transport.
Full time medical staff and aircrew are on standby 24hours to respond to emergencies. Patient will be accompanied by an emergency physician and/or critical care nurse, who have all worked for several years in intensive care medicine, are certified in advanced life support and have longstanding aero-medical experience
With the largest radio network, some 120 High Frequency stations, AMREF Flying Doctors are able to communicate with medical centers, hospital or tourist lodges in remote locations, who in turn can contact the 24 hours Control Center in Nairobi to arrange medical ad vice. Membership to this vital service is available for individuals, corporates and tourists.
The Flying Doctor Service is the airborne medical services arm of AMREF, the African Medical and Research Foundation, an international non-government Health organisation, founded in Kenya 1957.
Flying Doctor’s Air Ambulance Service supports the charitable Outreach program that takes medical specialists to remote health facilities throughout the Eastern African region – an area the size of Western Europe. Any surplus generated through the Air Ambulance Service directly supports the charity work of the Flying Doctors.
